I am utterly speechless. It’s gooey, it’s sticky, it’s sweet, it’s crunchy, it’s a chocolate lover’s dream come true! This raw chocolate caramel slice with almond crunch topping is so unbelievably DELICIOUS!!! I just simply can’t resist a good caramel slice and the best part of all is that this slice is completely raw, vegan, refined sugar-free, dairy-free, gluten-free and guilt-free. Chocolate biscuity base, smooth caramel layer, crunchy almond topping drizzled with raw chocolate. I am drooling just thinking about it and you’ll have to try it to believe how IRRESISTIBLE this is! I think I’m in LOVE…

    Hi Zainab,
Buckinis is buckwheat, which has been “activated” i.e. it has been soaked, washed, rinsed and dehydrated. What I love about buckinis is that it is super crunchy and has many health benefits. You can replace this with buckwheat or any nuts (roughly chopped).
    Enjoy! 🙂

    Hey,

I’ve recently got into making raw food and your recipes are fantastic. I have a little problem with raw food – coconut oil. It makes me very ill and I’ve been trying to look alternatives and haven’t had much luck. Do you have any suggestions?

    Thank you. X

      Hi Tick,
Unfortunately coconut oil is an essential ingredient to raw food, especially when making raw chocolate. I don’t have any other suggestions (sorry!)
      xx.

Made and LOVED these! Man oh man, tastes just like a candy bar (well, better!). I activated my own buckwheat, since I couldn’t find any here in the U.S. (though I’m sure it exists) and used some peanuts instead of almonds in the topping. So good. I may actually reduce the caramel a tiny bit next time–perhaps just using 1 cup of dates instead of 1 1/2 cups–so it’s a little thicker/easier to cut cleanly, but either way…fantastic!

I thought the multiple date based layers were going to be too much but this is delicious!! I keep having to remind myself that I’m not eating some sugar loaded treat. I made these for my mom for mothers day and she loved them. Thank you for all these great recipes I am having so much fun making them!!!

Just finished off my second slice of this eating it straight after the chocolate set out of the freezer! IT IS AMAZING! Thank you so much 🙂 x
